I’ve always believed hair is more than hair — it’s identity, it’s confidence, it’s legacy. My journey as a hairstylist started when I was just twelve years old, braiding my friends’ hair at school and in my neighborhood. By the time I was fifteen, I was already making money doing what I loved. What began as a hustle quickly turned into a lifelong calling.

I didn’t take the easy road. I went to beauty school, dropped out, tried again, and even had to step away more than once. The third time, I was determined — and I finished. But instead of running straight into my own salon, I chose a different path. I spent ten years apprenticing under seasoned hairstylists, soaking up everything I could: technique, customer service, the business of beauty, and what it truly means to honor a client’s crown.

During those ten years, I worked in salons across the Noblesville and Fishers area. I learned how to color all textures, how to silk press natural hair without damage, how to master extensions so they looked seamless and natural, and how to build trust with every single person who sat in my chair. I became known for my work ethic, my attention to detail, and my ability to transform not just hair — but how people felt about themselves.

In 2024, I made the leap. After years of working under others, I opened my own private studio: Beauty by Sheriann Hair Studio in Noblesville, Indiana. As an independent Black hairstylist, stepping into my own space wasn’t just a career move — it was a declaration. A declaration that my voice, my vision, and my artistry deserve a home of their own. Since November 2024, I’ve been operating as my own boss, welcoming clients into a luxury, one-on-one environment where healthy hair always comes first.

Along the way, I’ve built more than just a salon. I launched Bare Canvas by Sheriann, my own professional haircare line, born from the same passion that drove me to start braiding hair at twelve. Every formula was created to solve real problems my clients face: dry scalp, shedding, heat protection, and hydration. My signature product, Healthy Crown Oil, has been twelve years in the making and continues to change lives and scalps today.

I’ve also stepped into authorship, publishing two books — No Elevators Allowed, an unapologetic guide to entrepreneurship and mindset, and Crowning Glory: The Ultimate Hair Care Guide for All Textures, which shares my expertise on scalp health, routines, and textured hair care. These projects, along with my mentorship program at Maison de Lilly Beauty Academy, prove that my purpose goes beyond styling hair. I’m here to teach, to lead, and to create opportunities for the next generation of beauty professionals.

Today, I wear many titles: entrepreneur, master hairstylist, author, mentor, educator. But at my core, I’m still that twelve-year-old Detroit girl who fell in love with hair because of what it meant to people. My story is about resilience, reinvention, and always choosing to honor the beauty and confidence of every client who sits in my chair.

This is who I am. This is why I do it. And this is only the beginning.
